Volatility Regime Detector
FreeTells you whether the market is calm, trending or chaotic, so you pick the right approach before you trade.

What it does
Volatility Regime Detector classifies the market into three regimes so you know what kind of market you face before deciding how to trade it. Think of it as a weather forecast: calm, trending or chaotic.
How to read it
- Green — Compression: volatility is contracting. Often the calm before a move: prepare entries and set alerts.
- Yellow — Expansion: normal, directional volatility. Trend-following tends to work best here.
- Red — Chaos: extreme, erratic swings. Reduce size, tighten stops or step aside.
- The score (0 to 100) blends three volatility measures, smoothed so it doesn't jump on every candle.
When to use it
- Before choosing a strategy: breakout setups in compression, trend setups in expansion.
- As a warning to trade smaller when conditions turn chaotic.
When not to use it
- To pick a direction: it tells you the type of market, not where price goes.
